Marcelo Malta Andrade

Chef de Cuisine

Up until July 2023, Marcelo Malta Andrade, a renowned Portuguese-Brazilian chef, was the Chef de Cusine at Brooklyn's Olmstead. His culinary journey began at the age of fifteen when he enrolled at EPHTL, the Professional School of Hospitality and Tourism of Lisbon. He worked at some of Portugal's most prestigious restaurants, including Eleven, 100Maneiras, and Tiara Hotel, before relocating to Brazil in 2012. In Brazil, Marcelo's star shone even brighter when he opened Lasai in 2014, one of Rio de Janeiro's top Michelin-starred restaurants, where he eventually rose to the position of Chef de Cuisine. He further honed his skills by completing an internship at the world-renowned two Michelin-starred Mugaritz in Spain and earning a Masters of High Gastronomy from the Basque Culinary Center. 

Currently, Marcelo serves as Chef de Cuisine at Metropolis by Marcus Samuelsson. Since moving to New York City, he has cultivated a strong relationship with New York's local purveyors and producers, which is showcased throughout Metropolis' menu.
